New year, new season of Lakmé Fashion Week (LFW) is here! Yes, you guessed it right, we’re quite excited to welcome the spring/summer essentials in our wardrobe. Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2019 promises a lot of sartorial surprises and we’re all game for it. Day one was a mix of new talents in the fashion industry and experts of the trade. But all were in tune with the new wave of the season.
Here are all the things we loved from the first of LFW:
The Gen Next Show
Ek Katha, Ujjwala Bhadu, Birdwalk and Sunaina Khera were the four new designers introduced to us via the Gen Next show. If one showed us how to dress for a sunny day then the other showed us how to deck up for the tempered nights. It was a lineup of fresh new ideas ready to be explored in the upcoming season.
The #ArtMeetsFashion Installation Show
The name says it all, doesn’t it? When designer brands like Ajay Kumar, Helena Bajaj Larsen, YAVI and Bobo Calcutta come together to show us that fashion is art indeed and just a mundane industry.
We have never seen a variety of moto jackets like the one Asa Kazingmei presented at LFW. The details on these badass jackets were mindblowing!
Easy breezy pleated skirts, breathable tops and comfy pants—these are all the essentials we need in our summer closet and Sneha Arora delivered it all.
Varun Bahl Pret
Varun Bahl made his mark in ready-to-wear this year and launched his brand Varun Bahl Pret at LFW. The brands’ first ever showcase translated Art Nouveau vibe to modern silhouettes. The collection was drenched in the quintessential summer shade of white.
Gauri & Nainika
The Art Of Latte collection by Gauri & Nainika brought feminine flamboyance and flirty silhouettes to the runway. Want a pep in your step? This collection will ensure you do just that and look fabulous at the same time.
Rohit Bal showcased his new collection ‘Guldastah’ at LFW bringing all the floral glory to life. Rohit worked closely with Kashmiri weavers and gave us this regal collection. The final act of the day also captured the sweetest moment of the day when Rohit presented a rose to each weaver who worked on the collection.
Which one of these collections was your favourite from Day 1 of LFW? Let us know in the comments below.
